Several flocks of migrating cedar waxwings moved through Coral Springs by University drive this morning. The flight was slow, with much feeding.

At Hoechoka Hammock a pileated woodpecker was sighted exploring the small slash pines woods.

And, with great delight was spotted several American Redstarts in full mating plummage.

Nesting is full underway with red-bellied woodpecker setting up shop and being thrown out by starlings and squirrels; mockingbirds are into their third and fourth eggs; shrike are somewhat elusive on just where they are nesting (after much watching and false trails); brown thrasher are so busy ground scratching and feeding they either haven't nested yet or are terrible parents; Spring is unfolding.
