I just got an email from a good friend who is running a humpback whale snorkeling trip (you don't have to be an expert freediver to do this) from February 28 to March 7, 2009 on the Silver Banks which is just north of the island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic.)
I went a few years ago with another operator to the same place. There isn't much on this planet better than being in water with a 40 ton mom humpback and her 7 ton curious calf.
Anyone who would like more information please email privately.
I wonder what the birding is like in the Dominican. Has anyone tried it?
