A while back, I mentioned an e-mail from a birder who saw Boat-tailed Grackles turning over coquinas and eating the contents(?) at Fort Myers Beach. I have never seen that behavior myself but this morning, on our way out to STA-5 from Naples, Alan Murray and I saw some Boat-tailed Grackle feeding behavior we have never seen before. In some cattle ranch land on CR833 in Hendry County, we saw Boat-tailed Grackles flipping "cow pies" over to (presumably) get at the insects hidden underneath them! Has anyone ever witnessed that sort of feeding behavior in Boat-tailed Grackles?
