Over the past two months, I have been regularly seeing a male Yellow Warbler hanging out in the Gumbo Limbo trees next to the restrooms at the visitor center/tram office parking lot. Today, I saw him twice at 9:30 am & 4:30 pm. I also had an Orange-crowned Warbler, a male Northern Parula, a Black-and-White Warbler, in the trees in the canal across from the restrooms.

Also, I have regularly been seeing dark morph Short-tailed Hawks over the Shark Valley visitor center. Roughly, about once or twice a week this winter, sometimes even more. I think they are under-reported here at Shark Valley.

There was 2 Roseate Spoonbills I saw at the 4th borrow pit on the east road on my 11:00 am tram tour, as well as Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs at the same borrow pit today.

I am now leading one hour bird walks on Saturday and Sundays at Shark Valley from 8:45 to 9:45am until mid-April. We meet in front of the visitor center to try to find the Yellow Warbler, and anything else our ears lead us to see with the birds that are calling at that time of morning. Novice and experienced birders are more than welcome on my birdwalk.

Please look me up if you stop by the Shark Valley Visitor Center. Its always fun to chat with fellow birders. I am off on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
