I forgot to mention that you might want to wait until the morning to put the bird back in the nest. If you scare the adult off the nest at night, it might not come back until the morning, which could cause problems for the nestling still in the nest. In the meantime, you might want to keep the bird inside over night. Put it in a box and keep it in a dark area.
