While showing house guests the new DERM project on Virginia Key today (1/29), I found a (the?) Great Black-Hawk. Light was more favorable this time to see the subtle light-and-dark pattern on the wings. It was seen ~.6 miles north of the pay station for Virginia Key Beach, on Arthur Lamb, Jr. Road. We relocated it after it flew and it gave loud "kee-kee-kee-kee" call in addition to the soft plaintive whine.
