TAS Trip Report: North Broward Saturday Jan 26, 2008
Summary: A large group of 24 birders, from as far away as Australia ( Andy got like 14 life birds), spent a great day birding North Broward County, Starting at Fern Forest we saw several mixed flocks of warblers and great looks at a wintering Broad wing Hawk and Sharp-shinned Hawk. Next at Windmill Park we got great looks at Lesser Scaup, Ruddy Ducks and Limpkin. Broward Community College supplied a close Burrowing owl on queue. After a gourmet picnic lunch at Fern Forest we moved on the Secret Woods (nice walk-few birds). At Evergreen Cemetery, we were treated to views of a redstart that could not fly. The Ani spot was unproductive and the warehouse owner is expanding to the lot to the south or the warehouse has now been plowed under for expansion. Looks like the Ani s may have moved again.
