Several days ago around 0830 in the morning I heard a loud screaming sound in my front yard. When I went out to investigate, I was surprised to see a hawk hunkered down in the crevice formed by my chain-linked fence and the ground. More amazing was the sight of a Blue jay standing on the top of the hawk flapping its wings and screeching repeatedly. I couldn't see well enough to see if the hawk somehow had grip of the Blue Jays legs or not. I placed my arm very near the birds trying to get them to separate. After several attempts, first the Blue Jay flew and then the Sharp-shinned Hawk.
