At Wakodahatchee this morning a duck that had all the trappings of a blue-winged teal floated just outside shotgun range. It was evidently not one of the habituated regulars. But note the strange white markings going over the head and down the backside. It was symmetrical covering both sides. I have never seen this marking before on a male blue winged teal. Any ideas about this odd duck?
