I know it's a bit of a drive from Miami, but from Orlando it only took 2 hours. There is a very tame Brown Booby living on the St. John's County Pier on A1A in St. Augustine Beach that is very approachable. It apparently has been there since August, and has been getting fed by fishermen there. It looks like it is going to molt soon; there is a clear demarcation on its chest where the brown is lighter.

On a different note, I spent the morning yesterday with the Orange Audubon Society at the Lake Apopka Restoration Area. We totalled 79 species, including a heard King Rail and a beautiful male Yellow-headed blackbird. Such a difference compared to the female we had in Miami! We were lucky to see a Barn Owl fly to a nearby tree in daylight. It got flushed from a tree and followed some Black Vultures nearby. I was able to get a digiscoped picture of it looking back at us. After that, I went with a friend to FINALLY see the Say's Phoebe. It was very easy to spot; I observed it for several minutes before a Kestrel perched itself on a nearby fence post. The Phoebe disappeared VERY quickly.
