Gary and I watched the Lesser Nighthawks come out just after dusk on this past Saturday, Jan. 19th, at Lucky Hammock. We waited with a couple other birders (one from England) and were not disappointed. Facing west, across the fields behind the hammock, the nighthawks finally were seen at dusk, with one flying right over the road near us. There were approximately 12 or more that we counted as we watched. We are still trying to see the scissortails!!!
