Itinerary TAS Field Trip Saturday Jan 26, 2008

Each year I have attempted to try to have this trip to include different sites each year.
1. Meet 8A.M. Fern Forest (located in Coconut Creek one block south of the junction of Lyons and Atlantic) we will walk about 2 miles. Target birds: winter passerines. Bathrooms available.
2. Next stop. Windmill Park (located 5/10 mile north of Fern Forest on Lyons. Entrance on the right) Target birds; waders, diving duck primarily Ruddy ducks. Bathrooms available.
3. Next stop: Broward Community College (located north of Windmill, right on Coconut Creek Parkway, then right at Chevron station. Targets: Burrowing Owls, waders. No bathrooms.
4. Picnic Lunch-Return to Fern Forest
5. Next stop: Secret Woods Park (located in Ft Lauderdale, we will travel to 95S, exit at State Road 84, Park is 700 yard west of 95 exit on right) we will walk about 1 mile through a mangrove swamp off the New River. Targets: Wintering passerines and herons. Bathrooms available.
6. Next stop: Evergreen Cemetery (located on route 1 north, via state rd 84 east. Turn at Boston Market right SE 15th Street. Cemetery is one block northeast) this spot is a favorite spot for wintering rarities and migrants. We will have a short walk.
