Baltimore and Bullock's Orioles were lumped by the AOU as Northern Oriole in 1973 (32nd checklist supplement). They were re-split in 1995 (40th checklist supplement). The Black-backed Oriole, which had long been lumped into Bullock's, was also split at that time.
