In February, I showed a number of the TAS members two Burrowing Owl nest in the grass part of the parking lot, near the front entrance of a Publix at Griffin Road and SW 148th Avenue, in Davie. For the past couple of afternoons around 6:00 p.m., a single Burrowing Owl has set up housekeeping in one of the nest. The owl has been standing in front of the nest or it is in the small tree next to the nest. Last year there were owls in both nest. It is interesting to see these owls so close to the entrance of the store with all of the shoppers walking a few feet from the nest, which has been fenced. There is another Burrowing Owl nest in the parking lot in front of the Publix at Flamingo and Sterling Road in Cooper City. I guess they like to nest where "shopping is a pleasure".
