Bryant and Bill's observations were ground truthed by this year's Long Pine Key CBC. Vireo and warbler numbers were 20-28% of last year's numbers and 30-40% of average numbers since 2000. Buntings aren't expected for this count (Taylor Slough <-> Paurotis Pond) so it's hard to know how our area compares to other parts of ENP. Although we were hammered by wind on count day, count week observations by active birders also reflect lower than usual numbers for vireos and warblers.
