This morning a female-type Western Tanager was with a loose, mixed flock. It only perched once in the open and remained tucked in dense buttonwood vegetation the rest of the time. The wing bars were visible on the dark wings, the tanager bill was obvious and the bird had a greenish-yellow cast to the underparts. The flock seems to roam a large area and I found it .5 miles south of the pay station, just west of the turn off to the administration offices. There were myiarchus flycatchers (at least 2 Great Crested), 2 parulas, Yellow-rumps, gnatcatchers, a Prairie and a couple of Red-bellied Woodpeckers in the flock.

Also in the flock was an interesting myiarchus that seem paler and more dainty than the Great Cresteds. My looks were brief and into the light and I didn't get a look at the undertail. I can't rule out a very pale Great Crested and will try to get a better look.
