I was about one foot away with a macro lens. The spider is about 2 cm long or so. Thanks for the Bugguide.net tip. I had forgotten about that site! I just got confirmation that it is indeed a Selinopid Crab Spider but the exact species is up for grabs. Apparently there are four species. I was also told that it is a subadult male, meaning it has one more molt before it reaches maturity. The spider can live with only 7 legs and when it molts again, it may regenerate its eighth leg. Cool!
