This morning there were 2 Brown-crested Flycatchers near the area where I previously found 1 bird. (See post from 12/30/07). They began counter calling frequently at 9:25 and as one came close to the road, the second bird counter called from ~40 yards farther south and deeper in the vegetation. They even had a couple of typical Brown-crested guttural chatter exchanges. This probably explains why, on count day, Brennan heard a Brown-crested at about the same time as Rafael and Elsa had one farther north along the road.
The birds were ~.2 mile south of the stop sign and the Great Crested was right at the T. I dipped on Mark's Least Flycatcher, although there was one this morning in the Annex. I did pick up Trey's Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a Blue-headed and White-eyed Vireo and Black-throated Green, Orange-crowned and Prairie Warblers.
