Mr. Mitchell should be proud. Mr. Mitchell's photograph of nature in action is one of his best posts. It reminds us that being free as a bird may not be all that free.

In the last couple of weeks I've watched a Cooper's Hawk kill a Grackle and a Blue Jay in my own back yard. It's not much fun to see a small bird struggle under the talons of a much larger bird. On the other hand, once you get over the initial shock and/or disappointment of seeing one of your resident Blue Jays being de-feathered right under your feeder, you realize that it is all about survival. There is nothing wrong with it. I applaud the many photographers who document the balance of nature and share their images with us. As a result of their hard work, I feel more enlightened and have a greater appreciation for all life.

I respect your opinion. I hope you respect mine.
