East winds are pushing jaegers and gannets close to shore and this morning I had good looks at a Parasitic Jaeger < 1/2 mile out. I had good scope views and eliminated Long-tailed (wing width, aggressively harassing a tern, fairly short tail and lacked slightly delicate look of Long-tailed) and Pomarine (more svelte, buoyant flight and behavior). Two other jaegers were just off Government Cut but just out of range for species ID. From their flight pattern, I am guessing Pomarine. Gannets and frigatebirds were very close to shore and seemed to be finding bait balls.
