I got down to Wako and Green Cay on the 1st. No Soras or snipes to be found, nor the whistling-ducks of late, but about seven Roseate Spoonbills, dozens of Purple Gallinule and a few Limpkin at Green Cay. Interestingly, I also had a flyover spoonbill just south of the intersection of I-95 and Southern Blvd, by Palm Beach International Airport heading southwest. Don't know if it was a wanderer or if there is a small colony in the area.

Today at Okeeheelee, three female and one male Painted Bunting were feeding behind the nature center, while a few Ruby-throated hummingbirds fed out in front. Also in front were four friendly Sandhill Cranes.

Best in the New Year,
Brendan
