I started at 7am at Cutler Wetland and found all the good birds and the usual as well. It was foggy and I had to use my scope to see detail from a distance where binoculars are usually enough. I only took a couple of photos of the Snow Goose as a silhouette.

Here is the list from Cutler Wetland:

Boat-tailed Grackle
Brown-headed Cowbird
Blue-wing Teal
Gadwall
Green-wing Teal
American Wigeon
Mottled Duck
Wood Duck
Northern Shoveler
Snow Goose
Great Blue Heron
Little Blue Heron
Snowy Egret
Red-winged Blackbird
White Ibis
Glossy Ibis
Sacred Ibis
Long-billed Dowitcher
Stilt Sandpiper
American Avocet
Wood stork
American Coot
Belted Kingfisher
Pied-billed Grebe

I then drove by Dump Marsh hoping to see the Yellow-headed Blackbird, but no luck there. I saw no cowbirds or grackles on the wires so I kept going and walked Black Point Jetty. I got three pretty good birds to start the year; Horned Grebe, Common Loon and Gull-billed Tern :)

Here is what I added to the list at Black Point:

Ring-billed Gull
Laughing Gull
Herring Gull
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Gull-billed Tern
Royal Tern
Brown Pelican
Red-breasted Merganser
Horned Grebe
Common Loon
Spotted Sandpiper
Ruddy Turnstone
Black-bellied Plover
Willet
Semipalmated Plover
Double-crested Cormorant
Summer Tanager
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Common Yellow Throat
Prairie Warbler
Northern Flicker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Eastern Phoebe
Osprey
Red-shouldered Hawk
Loggerhead Shrike
Fish Crow
