Ok, so this is the neighborhood osprey contemplating his Christmas eve dinner at the canal near my house(Red Road, just north of Bird), but with the wind at his back his crown's fluffed up in a pretty good imitation of at least that much of a harpy eagle's look--no? I am hopeful of seeing a harpy eagle, crested eagle, or ornate hawk eagle during next summer's trip to Peru(any one will do-perched within 30 yards, preferably), so this raptor's wind aided imitation is the best I'll do til then, absent a trip to a zoo. More pictures of my neighborhood wildlife seen today here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joelnrosenthal/
click on the "neighborhood wildlife" set to see more of this guy.

And most importantly--Happy Holidays, a happy and healthy New Year and good birding to everyone!!!
