Today i went birding on the C-111 canal. I started off on the SE end off US1 and headed to the NW. For those not familer with C-111 it is one of the main spreader canals that run through the everglades. It starts in NW Dade and runs to manatee bay at the Monroe/Dade county line. There are 13miles open to the public for Walking, hiking, and horseback. I biked today. C-111 offers a great birding area. There are several flow pipes on the SE section for about 5miles, and hold lots of birds. I biked 7miles to the s18c lock before turning around. The list of birds i saw today.
