That's because we canvassed another impoundment/cell that we normally don't survey in our tours. I'm positive that there are even more individuals in the two remaining cells that we didn't survey due to lack of time and CBC participants. 31 is a conservative number for sure. Also, these birds are extremely weary/skittish. They used to be fairly "tame" i.e. approachable for photos, etc. They learn quickly when survival instincts kick in. . . .
