The most interesting sightings that came in from today s Ft. Lauderdale Christmas bird count are six Smooth-billed Anis and a Great Cormorant. The four adult and two immature Anis were in the same area they were seen last spring near the 800 block of Old Griffin Road. This is between I-95 and US 1 and isn t a very good neighborhood, so if you go looking for them be careful. The Great Cormorant was seen off John U. Lloyd State Park on a channel marker on the south side of the Port Everglades inlet channel. One was seen at the same place last winter and a scope is needed to see the bird well.
