This a.m. I went to Dump Marsh in search of the Yellow-headed Blackbird. There were myriads of a mix of birds on the lines and sitting in the dead trees. After making a quick sweep of the area I was headed back to my car and ran into Trey Mitchell. I then decided to walk the embankment that runs parallel to the road. Upon returning,I decided it wouldn't hurt to scan the lines again. I saw a bird with a decidedly yellow breast and was able to watch it for at least five minutes. I wanted to make sure it was'nt just the morning light but after comparing to all the surrounding birds on the telephone wires, I am sure it was the Yellow-headed Blackbird. I also had my field book with me and the markings were correct for the female. Location: If you are standing on the west side of the locked yellow gate to the access road, look up at the telephone wires and follow them to the north across the canal and the road. To the right of the wooden telephone pole there is a group of most probably Wahingtonia Palm Trees(about 20 with fan shaped leaves). The bird was standing on the wires directly above these trees.
