I went to the jetty at Black Point this afternoon to take advantage of the light west wind and setting sun in hopes of finding something on the water. At scope-only distance, directly northeast from the furthest dry-walk spot on the jetty, there were 4 Horned Grebes. They stayed on the surface the entire time I watched, which made it easier to find them. This is one species that tends to spend a lot of time underwater, and at that distance you could easily pass right over where they are at and not see them. Nothing else terribly interesting, but there were a few Red-breasted Mergansers out on the water, and some shorebirds on the jetty. No sign of the Snow Goose at Cutler Wetlands.
