This morning I saw what I have been waiting for in my yard. I have a tube birdfeeder located about five feet from my back sliding glass door in a Mango tree. I was expecting the usual female Red-winged Black Birds to appear when I saw something different make it's appearance. At first only a hint of red then I noted the yellow-green mantle and I knew it was him! After feasting on some white millet he flew about three feet away to my Beauty Berry shrub and stayed for a hour and a half. The best part was all the lower limbs of the shrub were bare and he was just posing there in clear view. What a great way to start a day! I'm hoping there will be many more.
