Possible Loons in Boca Raton

I spotted a pair of sure-look-like-loons today just before dusk in the canal area near Military Trail and Palmetto Park Rd in Boca Raton. I thought I must be seeing things, but checking the archives it appears that Loons are seen here in December. I could not stop in rush-hour traffic to get a picture or to look for any details, bummer - but I'll be going back to hunt them down tomorrow.

Can you give me any help with IDing species?
