Cute photo, Larry! It got me thinking, why wouldn't the myna recognize the owl as a predator? Great horned owls are only found in N&S America, yes, but surely there are large owls in tropical southern Asia. I wiki'd common myna but it did not tell me any predators. I googled "owl asia" and this great website, owls of Asia, popped up with tons of eared owls (my fave: forest eagle owl). So why wouldn't the myna recognize the owl sculpture as a predator? Are the mynas THAT smart? If so, how cool. Or is it just that those sculptures don't work?
