i really have no position on this one, that's for someone else to decide. i've seen just one, at the fll airport post office. but i figured i'd use the topic as an excuse to bring back one of the more spectacular exotic failures we've had here, the scarlet ibis's at greynolds park. when i was a boy we used to go watch them once in a while. did they crash with the rest of the rookery, or hybridize themselves out of existence? the last one i saw was a hybrid on the mudflat at flamingo that was so exactly the color of a spoonbill, i glassed over it for ten minutes trying to id other stuff. that was in the mid eighties, i've got records somewhere. if anybody has any info on how they got there, what happened to them, or records on them, please share. they were certainly [the blue and golds are close] among the most beautiful birds i have ever seen, and one i wish we still had around. i know, not native, but they were beautiful. kd
