Trey and I arrived at Lucky Hammock at 6:00 this morning in hopes of relocating the Short-eared Owl seen during the ABA conference last week. Trey was first to see it at 6:15 heading from the west field towards Lucky Hammock. It came in to the right of us, made a pass along the west side of the Hammock, and flew around the corner as though it flew into the Hammock. Although the lisght was still low, the bird was unmistakable. We also heard Whip-poor-wills calling from the area to the west, and a rail from the east side. We were disappointed to find no sparrows once the sun came up.

At the Annex we had a Western Kingbird on a tree to the west, an Orange-crowned Warbler, and a Painted Bunting.

We visited the spot on 320 St. and found 8 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers and one Western Kingbird on the fence between 217th and 214th Ave. along 320 St.

Flynn's had 4 more Western Kingbirds.

Our most bizarre sighting was a large monkey in a field north of the main park road and west of 217th Ave. Could this monkey be a vagrant or an escapee? We may never know.
