Sorry to hear your Flamingo trip for Flamingos turned up Flamingoless. I fish that area extensively in my kayak, and alligators are quite frequent in Florida Bay, as they always have been. The crocodiles aren't chasing them out there...both species reside together in brackish waters and sometimes in saltwater habitats as well. I even occasionally see alligators (and otters) from my kayak along the western fringes of Biscayne Bay.

If you have portage wheels for your canoe or kayak, attach it behind a bicycle and pedal down the Snake Bight Trail. If you launch there that places you square in the middle of Snake Bight, and much closer to areas where I've seen wild Flamingos in the winter months.
