We don't have anything against cats. However, they kill millions upon millions of birds every year (not an exaggeration) in addition to other wildlife. Since cats are not native to our country, our wildlife is not adapted to their hunting style.

Therefore, the feeding of feral cats in our county parks (which provide important habitat for migratory and resident bird species) is not in the best interest of our native wildlife. Even well-fed cats kill (this is a proven fact).

Our birds have such little habitat left...wouldn't it be nice if one of the few places they have to stop on their migratory journeys in urban southeast Florida were not crawling with predatory cats?
