An AMERICAN KESTREL found on Key Largo could possibly be of the Bahamian race. To reach the area, take Card Sound road south to Ocean St. Go to the end of Ocean to Oleander. The Kestrel was perched on a telephone pole near the intersection of Oleander and Ocean. There are a couple of American Kestrels in the neighborhood, one with very little streaking, but a very buffy breast, another with lots of dark breast streaking. If you see the bird you will know it, it is white! It does have a couple of buffy spots on the upper breast, but that is it (K. Radamaker). There is also a silver band on it’s leg.
