This morning in Cape Florida, Michelle and I were entertained by a kiting dark-morph Red-tailed Hawk. They are uncommon in the park and we only see 1-2 each fall. Michelle is also seeing a dark-morph Red-tail in South Dade. After a Swainson's Thrush on Monday, we were also treated to a Wood Thrush this morning. It seems like thrushes are still working their way south.
Four tern species were on Crandon flats today, including 4 Forster's Terns, uncommon on this beach. Adult Herring Gulls are perching on Rickenbacker light poles; a true sign of the season.
