This morning started out quite nicely with painted buntings at the feeders , hummingbirds at the window feeders and the brightly colored Baltimore Oriole (one of three in the yard) feeding on the turks cap flowers.
Two kestrels made their first flights in the neighborhood as well.
We have been very spoiled this week as we have added male Rosebreasted Grosbeak,Summer Tanager and Shiny Cowbird to this weeks yardbird list.
Forcing ourselves to leave the house, we ambled over to Kendall Indian Hammocks park in hopes of finding the Bay Breasted Warbler.
There was quite crowd in the park and we first ran into Steve S as he had a nice little chestnut sided warbler in view.
Steve pointed us in the right direction and we soon found the Baybreasted as well as MANY parulas,BTBs, redstarts, yellowthroated vireos,Bl&wh warblers and Tennessee warblers in the second fruiting fig.
Someone sighted the Townsends and the group clustered under an oak to get a good look.
Rock Jetty got crippling looks at a Philadelphia vireo and sent us in the direction of our Orlando Birder visitors. It seemed that we were not meant to find the Philly until Julie and I went onto the back path behind the tree where the bird had been seen.
It was a worthwhile detour as we soon found an ovenbird and flushed a Chuck Will's Widow. We also found the bird. At least I think this is the bird (?)
Back home we were greeted by the male Baltimore and one of the Brown Thrashers that raised babies in the Loquat tree this summer.
Not a bad start to the day.
