During a half hour of birding in the potter's filed next to the park:
1 female merlin perched forever and preening on a tree.
A live oak tree "alive" with several birds at once:
1 female redstart
male and female parulas
1 male black-throated blue
1 red-eyed vireo (tearing into a large green caterpillar)
many gnatcatchers
On an open filed, about 10 palm warblers near and on the ground.
Eerlier this week an immature cooper's hawk catching a Collared Dove. They both fell to the gound. I had to intervene cause I didn't want to see the kill so I scared off the hawk and dove flew away.
