I drove by Cutler Wetlands around 6:00 pm today and saw no birds at all. I drove along 232 St. by the wastewater treatment plant and stopped at the fence in front of another wetland on the north side. In the area nearest the fence (the southwest corner of the wetland) there were two Adult Black-bellied Whistling Ducks with 7 youngsters. I don't know where they nested, but we were seeing Black-bellieds earlier this summer throughout this area including Dump Marsh, and there are plenty of large pine trees in that area. This is just a hunch of course. Pretty cool.
