Greynolds Park Bird Walk

Fifteen enthusiastic birders showed up for the Tropical Audubon sponsored Greynolds Park Bird Walk today. While there were not great numbers of individual species, the group did manage to observe 35 birds including 12 species of warblers. The highlight of the walk was a great look at a beautiful and vocal male Hooded Warbler. Other birds seen on the walk were:
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 6
Prairie Warbler - 3
Black & White Warbler - 1
Parula Warbler - 4
Yellow-throated Warbler - 2
C. Yellowthroat Warbler - 1
Ovenbird - 2
Northern Waterthrush - 1
Magnolia Warbler - 1
Hooded Warbler - 1
Pine Warbler - 1
American Redstart - 8
Red-eyed Vireo - 3
Yellow-throated Vireo - 3
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - many
Blue Jay - stop counting
N. Cardinal - 4
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 3
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 3
Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1
Cooperhawk - 2
Osprey - 2
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1
N. Mockingbird - many
White Ibis - 35 (flying out of the rookery)
Great Blue Heron - 1
Green Heron - 3
Anhinga - 2
Moorhen - 2
Fish Crow - 6
Cmn. Grackle - many
Mourning Dove - 6
Belted Kingfisher - 1
Nightjar species - 1 (possible late C, Nighthawk - group got a quick look at the bird as it flew over the canopy of trees, but not all field markings could be observed)
It was great meeting those who showed up for the walk today, and I look forward in seeing more of you on the next bird walk at Greynolds in April for spring migrants. Until then, check out the park.
