Gary and I went to Sadowski this afternoon and saw what appeared to be a Dark morph Short-tailed Hawk. It was "kiting" above the hammock/canal area (where the trail ends in front of the canal). We also watched it dive straight down into the hammock (probably getting lunch!) The coloring and patterns shown in Sibley's for this type of hawk matched what we observed. We also saw 2 Spot-breasted Orioles near the feeder area, a Great-crested Flycatcher, many B.G.Gnatcatchers and a Northern Parula. It was the middle of the afternoon, so hopefully there will be a lot more activity tomorrow morning for everyone on the TAS walk.
