An overall dark colored raptor with broad wings and distinct pale primaries with dark tips; a long tail that may appear notched or square and may be quite pale below (even reddish); has pronounced dihedral but may soar on flat, slightly crooked wings (a dynamic flyer indeed!!)... If you see it, it just may be a Black Kite. There is little differentiation between young and adult birds unless experienced and seen closely.
What to be confused with?? - a Red Kite?
Sheesh, what an awesome bird... I hope the sighting holds... wish I could go.
