Went out with my dad today to C-111E and Castellow. We didn't see alot (it was 2:00 when we got there). I saw three Black-Throated Blue Warblers, some Cardinals, mockingbirds, bluejays, a hummingbird at castellow and nice little rabbit. I saw a merlin fly overhead as well. Along the west bank of C-111E canal, my dad spotted ANOTHER perched Chuck-Will's-Widow. I don't know how he does it! We saw some movement in there and as we approached, about 4 dark birds flew off making a very weird sound. My likened it the sound he heard Smooth-Billed Anis made when he saw them years ago. Is it possible they are there? I don't even know how to describe the sound other than a whiny whistle.

At the Annex, we saw a northern harrier fly over the Eastern fields.

Let me know what you think. See you all tomorrow at the birdwalk.

Dan
