Yesterday Mary Krome Park in Homestead had a couple of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds as well as Yellow-throated Vireo and a Chuck-wills-widow. There were a few warblers to and many butterflies and spider webs.

The Annex had four Blue Grosbeaks as well as a few warblers but nothing out of the ordinary.

Today at Castellow Hammock there were two Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and a few warblers. The hammock trail had a Dina Yellow butterfly as well as several more common species.

On the way home from Castellow Hammock I stopped along the railroad tracks behind the Redland Tavern at Krome Ave. and s.w. 232 st. On the north side of s.w. 232 st. I thought I had seen a group of Smooth-billed Anis, this was about a month ago. I looked today to see if that is really what I saw, but did not see any. I did however have almost two dozen Blue Grosbeaks which was nice, this may be one of the biggest flocks that I have seen. I did not see much else here, I was really hoping to see Smooth-billed Anis. I may have to check the area again sometime.

I have include a photo of a young male Blue Grosbeak from the Annex area.
