I had an interesting experience less than one hour ago. I was out in my front drive-way when I heard a flock of Yellow-Chevroned Winged Parakeets sqawking. I looked up to see a large dark bird gliding and the parakeets dashing at it. For a second my vision of it was occluded by trees, but then it flew directly over where I was standing with the parakeets at it's tail. It was very dark brown with the leading edge feathers darker than the trailing. The head was large and it was broad-winged. I didn't note any obvious marking from underneath. the tail was short relatively speaking and fan shaped.
