A pair of Swallow-tail Kites were observed around 4:45 p.m., this afternoon in the area of SW 148th Avenue and Marvin Lane, in Davie, just south of Sterling Road. This is the same area they have been at for the past two years. Last year, they arrived on March 11th. Last year there was a nest and a pair was raised from that nesting. During the past two summers, on a daily basis, there have been Swallow-tail Kites. Sometimes there have been large numbers in this area, with eight or nine being observed at one time. Two weeks ago I showed Brian Rapoza and a group from TAS the location of the nest. I wonder if the Swallow-tail Kites will use the same nest? When more arrive, I will post the information.
