Thanks Dan. Maybe it will enjoy that spot for a bit longer! That would be a lifer for me too. I enjoyed looking at your pictures from the weekend. The snail pictured is a Liguus tree snail. They are beautiful and come in an unbelievable variety of colors and patterns. Castellow Hammock is full of them - easily seen from the trail. As far as keeping a list, the greatest joy is in observing and enjoying the birds themselves, but it is fun to keep a list, and having a record of when and where you've seen each type of bird. It should be fun though, and not a burden. For me, it's a type of nature journal and part of the whole experience.
