On my way home from A.D. Barnes morning bird walk, I decided to check out Lucky Hammock since its about a mile from home. I ran into Trish with her big camera taking pictures. She saw quite a few birds & I was with her for about the last 20 minutes, walking the road. Saw some male Redstarts, Eastern Kingbird, Great Crested Flycatchers, Prairie Warblers, Loggerheaded Shrike, Turkey Vultures, Ovenbirds, Cardinals, Bluejays, Red-eyed Vireos, and a very wet scruffy Blue Jay. Trish said she saw some Painted Buntings before I got there. The highlight of my short trip was when we heard a Barred Owl in some distant trees. Trish called him from afar, and the owl flew right into a large Strangler Fig next to the road. What a view! The owl stayed for quite a while & was very cooperative for picture-taking. Trish must have got some good pictures & I hope I get to see them. What a treat. Many other birds were right next to the road and the area looks to be good for taking pictures. Hope Trish got some good ones!
