I saw a shrike today in the center of the fort
parking lot at Ft DeSoto. I assumed it was a
Loggerhead, but I took a look anyway. I was
surprised to see an extended hook on its beak
much like the Northerns I've seen in Michigan
winters. I had about 30 seconds to compare it
to the Natl Geo pictures. The coloring could
have been either. There was nothing to compare
its size. It flew south, and landed near the
museum. By the time I got near, it flew behind
the Museum and I couldn't relocate it. Could
someone in the Pinellas Cty area check it out?
